MEA’s President, Grace Leavitt, was asked by Governor Mills to sit on a special Opioid Prevention Work Group and is seeking information from members to help the work group create ways to support students in need.

This group is tasked with evaluating existing substance use disorder prevention programs that target school-age children, investigating programs that have proven effective here or elsewhere, and identifying ways to improve prevention programs in education curricula.  First, it makes sense to know what is are happening in Maine’s school districts.

Please e-mail MEA President Grace Leavitt a brief summary of any prevention programs/curricula you are using in your district, that information would be extremely helpful as the group begins its work.  Thank you for helping with this! Use the Contact Us page on the MEA website to submit your information.
