MEA AutoPay
Your seat in the AutoPay waiting room is ready. Join us today!
Taking back our collective power starts here.
The MEA is offering AutoPay – a convenient and secure way to pay union dues through your bank account or a credit card directly to the union. New members who sign up are already paying dues through AutoPay methods. We’re now extending this offer to current members, and you’re on the short list! The AutoPay waiting room is a secure portal that allows you to enter your banking or credit card information and encrypts this information, keeping it safe. You will continue to pay dues through payroll deduction until the end of this membership year. MEA will update your dues pay method to AutoPay for the 26-27 membership year. NEA and MEA will not have access to the personal financial information entered in the portal.
Protect Your Union
Take the Power Back
We are standing together and building our numbers so we have the collective power to bargain for the things that matter to us. Converting to AutoPay takes the power back into our hands and protects our union membership by keeping it between you and your union.
Build Stronger Locals
Attempts to weaken unions come from the state and federal level every year. We’ve learned the lesson from other locals and state affiliates who have lost payroll deduction, and we’re proactively working to strengthen our union and build our power. AutoPay is a convenient, secure method to pay your union dues through automatic deductions from a checking or savings account or credit card. It is a quick, one-time change.
Act Now
Building collective power begins now by joining the AutoPay waiting room — it’s like pre-enrolling your membership and there’s no disruption to your existing payment method. Simply enter your individual member ID, zip code, and banking information, and the system will securely store that information until the start of the new membership year on September 1, 2026.

Frequently Asked Questions AutoPay
What payment options are available through AutoPay?
Members can choose to pay dues through either a credit card or Electronic Funds Transfer/Bank Draft (EFT) from a checking or savings account.
Is Autopay recurring?
There are two methods for paying dues with AutoPay: credit card and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) from a checking or savings account. If members choose to pay union dues using their credit card, that is a one-time payment each year. If they choose to pay using EFT, they will pay dues on a once or twice monthly, recurring schedule throughout each membership year. The EFT schedule for each local association has been designed to align closely with pay dates in that district.
How does MEA protect my payment information?
When a new member enters payment information into Join Now, it will be encrypted. MEA membership processors will not have access to members’ banking information. This is why we will no longer be utilizing paper membership forms; we want to make sure members’ payment data is secure.
Can members choose their payment date?
Members can choose which pay method they prefer and see the payment schedule associated with that pay method.
Are there fees associated with MEA processing my payment?
No, there are no fees charged to a member for dues payment processing.
Are my union dues tax deductible?
Dues and contributions payments are not tax deductible as charitable contributions whether paid through payroll deduction or AutoPay.
What happens if insufficient funds are in my bank account?
If you miss a scheduled dues payment due to insufficient funds, the MEA will notify you through email. The email will outline the steps you can take to get your membership back in good standing. Beyond the initial email notification, we’ll continue to connect with you to get everything caught up.
