Congratulations to MEA-endorsed candidate Hannah Pingree the next Maine governor.
MEA members endorsed Hannah because we believe she is the right leader to help move Maine forward. As a parent, former school board member, and longtime public servant, she understands the challenges facing Maine’s students, educators, and public schools.
Throughout this campaign, Hannah made a genuine effort to listen to educators and education stakeholders across the state. She met with teachers, education support professionals, school leaders, and higher education faculty and staff, to learn about both the successes and challenges in Maine’s schools. Those conversations demonstrated her commitment to ensuring that the voices of educators are heard in the policymaking process.
We look forward to working with Governor-elect Pingree to strengthen public education and create opportunities for every student to succeed. Maine students deserve leaders who place their needs at the center of decision-making and who are committed to ensuring that every student, in every community, has access to a safe, welcoming, and well-resourced public school.
