Faculty at Maine’s public four-year institutions earned an average of $93,892, ranking 35th nationally. Faculty at public two-year institutions earned $66,879, ranking 33rd. Education support professionals (ESPs) earned an average of $47,852, placing Maine 19th.
By comparison, neighboring New England states reported higher salaries across the same categories. Public four-year faculty salaries exceeded $100,000 in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire. Public two-year faculty salaries were also higher in every New England state based on available data. ESPs earned the highest wages in Connecticut and Massachusetts, while Maine ranked in the middle of the region.
