Last but not least, before the break we were hearing about (and I heard a few myself directly) school board meetings where a few of the public in attendance were making comments that in some cases could only be characterized as attacks on public education and the professionalism of educators. Thankfully, in some districts, MEA members have also been attending school board meetings and offering information on the great things our educators and students are doing—a good way to be sure the public at large is aware of all you are doing to keep students learning and to support them even in these times as well as the array of programs and opportunities that educators and our schools provide. The more that we can do this, taking turns to highlight the great work that is going on in our schools, the better for us all—educators and students alike. Be sure to keep MEA informed about how things are going in your districts as we move ahead.

And as always, reach out any time. MEA is here to support you and to help provide the latest information on a wide array of issues. And I am glad to talk with you or meet with you whenever!

Stay well, and stay strong.

In Unity,

Grace Leavitt, President
Maine Education Association
