National Board Certification is the most respected professional credential available in education.

Any educator with a bachelor’s degree, active teaching certificate, and 3 years teaching/school counseling experience is eligible for certification.

Benefits of certification include:

• A yearly salary stipend of $3,000-$5,000

As part of your membership, MEA offers FREE, virtual workshops to guide you through the NBCT process.

These workshops are for:

• Potential NBCT candidates seeking more information
• NBCT candidates working toward certification
• NBCT renewal candidates

2024-2025 Dates:

Support Workshops: Each workshop will have a different focus based on the needs of the candidates attending and will be held virtually from 9 AM-2PM.

• April 5
• May 3

Participants are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible to get the full benefit of working with this group of dedicated Maine educators. Participants who attend all sessions can earn up to 20 contact hours.

All workshops are sponsored by the Maine Education Association and facilitated by trained Candidate Support Providers who are NBCTs. For more information, contact MEA.

Sessions are FREE for members of MEA.

Non-members working toward initial certification will be charged a fee of $600.

Non-members working toward maitanance of certification will be charged a fee of $300.
