President Hargrove spoke to ABC Channel 8 Sunday Evening. Watch his interview here.
This landmark legislation repeals the unfair GPO and WEP provisions—a huge win for educators and public service workers across Maine—including at least 25,000 retired Maine educators who will be immediately impacted by the passage of the Social Security Fairness Act.
Repealing these unjust provisions has been a decades-long priority for the Maine Education Association and National Education Association with our members working tirelessly for over 25 years for this historic moment—including the hundreds of you who contacted your representatives in Congress and helped push the Social Security Fairness Act across the finish line.
We are grateful for the leadership of Senator Susan Collins and the rest of Maine’s federal delegation for coming together to pass this landmark legislation. Please take a moment to thank Maine’s federal delegation for their steadfast support on GPO/WEP repeal.
